Wasgij Jigsaw Puzzles

Click the picture below to see the puzzle pieces blown up to "life size"

These are grid cut puzzles with ordinary piece shapes.

Wasgij have laid claim to a very sizeable portion of the jigsaw puzzle market and they are consistently the number 1 range in the UK. The puzzles are manufactured by Jumbo but they have become so popular that they are deserving of a page to themselves on our website.

All Wasgij puzzles share the same basic concept – the picture on the box is different to the picture on the puzzle. When making a puzzle it is necessary to use your imagination and this adds an irresistible level of fascination to many jigsaw puzzlers. In case you haven't already caught on, "Wasgij" is Jigsaw backwards!

Graham Thompson was the original artist for the Wasgij range and he has been joined by James Alexander and Bill Houston who now share the credit for these famous, humorous puzzles.

The brand was first introduced in 1997 and by 2001 the puzzle titled "Blooming Marvellous" was the 2nd best selling adult puzzle. Since then, three more basic themes have been added so that we now have four different ranges as follows:

Wasgij Original - Look at the picture on the box and imagine what one of the characters is looking at – this will be the image on the puzzle.

Wasgij Destiny - Look at the picture on the box and imagine how the scene might look in the modern day – that imagined picture is the one you will be making.

Wasgij Mystery - Look at the picture on the box and then piece together how you think it will look in a few minutes time.

Wasgij What If - Look at the picture on the box and think what would happen if imagination turned into reality. It is the reality that you will be puzzling.

We should all be grateful for artists such as Graham Thompson and innovative companies like Jumbo who constantly aim to introduce the jigsaw puzzle fraternity to "something new".
