Springbok Jigsaw Puzzles

Click the picture below to see the puzzle pieces blown up to "life size"

bonbons-a-profusion

These are random cut jigsaw puzzles with fascinating piece shapes. As far as we know, this style of cutting is unique to this company.

Robert and Katie Lewin founded "Springbok Editions" in 1963. Taking inspiration from Waddington circular puzzles, the company set about revolutionizing the jigsaw puzzle industry in the USA. It is a testament to their success that from the onset their puzzles sold for $3.50 each whilst other cardboard puzzles were retailing at $1.00 each.

The brand was so successful that in 1967 the company was acquired by Hallmark Cards and then followed a period of 34 years when Springbok puzzles were sold exclusively by Hallmark.

In 2001 Hallmark decided to stop making Springbok puzzles causing uproar amongst the jigsaw puzzle fraternity. Over the years Springbok had acquired an extremely loyal following and consequently Hallmark was forced to reconsider. Subsequently the production rights were granted to Allied Products Inc. and they continue to maintain the quality standards of this influential brand.

Every individual piece in a Springbok puzzle is unique – no two are the same shape. The company take pride in the high quality of their puzzles and the thickness of their chipboard ensures the pieces lock together perfectly. Only about 25 new puzzles are introduced each year.

Images include stunning landscapes and wildlife along with branded graphics from Coca Cola, Mary Englbreit and the B&O Museum.

"Springbok Cares" is the company's charitable giving program which raises money for 3 major charities - Marian Hope Centre for children with Autism, MetaCancer Foundation for breast cancer and Max Wallack's charity for Alzheimer's Disease.
